Bronze DofE training typically takes place over two weekends, with the first weekend focusing on training and practice, and the second weekend being the assessment. During the training weekend, participants will typically cover a range of topics such as navigation, campcraft, first aid, and teamwork through practical activities and exercises. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions, clarify any doubts, and practice their skills in a supervised and supportive environment.
After the training weekend, participants will have time to plan and prepare for the assessed expedition, during which they will need to demonstrate the skills they have learned. The assessed expedition typically involves a two-day hike, during which participants will navigate a pre-determined route and camp overnight in a designated area.
Throughout the entire process, participants are expected to show a high level of self-reliance and responsibility, as well as demonstrate effective teamwork and communication skills. By successfully completing the Bronze DofE program, participants can gain valuable skills, confidence, and experience that will serve them well in their future endeavours.
Silver DofE training is typically conducted in three after-school sessions, each lasting 60-90 minutes, and a weekend camping expedition of 3 days 2 nights, During the training sessions, participants will cover a range of topics, including more advanced navigation, campcraft, first aid, and leadership skills. Silver DofE training is typically conducted in three after-school sessions, each lasting 60-90 minutes, and a weekend camping expedition of 3 days 2 nights, During the training sessions, participants will cover a range of topics, including more advanced navigation, campcraft, first aid, and leadership skills. They will engage in practical activities, workshops, and lectures to develop their skills, and receive guidance and support from trained instructors.
Following the training sessions, participants will have time to plan and prepare for their assessment camping expedition. The camping expedition will take place over two nights and three days, during which participants will navigate a route they have previously planned, camp overnight, and demonstrate the skills they have learned.
By successfully completing the Silver DofE program, participants can gain valuable skills and experience, which can enhance their personal development and achievement. The program is highly regarded by universities, employers, and other organisations, as it demonstrates a commitment to personal growth and development.
Both our Bronze and Silver packages include kit hire and training sessions. The training sessions cover what to wear, what to eat, what clothing to take and etc. participants will receive kit that is included in the cost of the package and complete a route planning session , training sessions are normally done over the course of 1 day or

At Tent&Trek we offer you the opportunity to tailor make your package to your students needs, we offer a range of services from the full experience including coming into the school to carry out all of the training the students will need for their award to the full assessment, in addition to this we also offer a broken down package if you're in need of just kit hire or an assessor or just someone to cover the practice, whatever you need we can help.
Our highly experienced team can come to the school and provide full training including first aid, safety and emergency procedures, what to take, what to wear, what to eat, participants will be taught route planning, map reading skills and even how to cook with trangeas. On the practice expedition we will instruct and assist the correct assembly of the tents, we break down into smaller groups where our staff will guide each group through basic navigation skills including the jargon, map orientation, symbols , use of a compass, pacing and timing, and calculating distance before each student in turn will be able to take a turn at leading the navigation.
Tent & Trek provides a range of dates throughout the season for open expeditions, subject to sufficient interest and participant numbers. In the event that a published date does not proceed, customers who have made bookings will have the option to either receive a refund or transfer their booking to an alternative expedition. This allows customers to choose from a variety of expeditions and ensure a satisfactory experience with our service.
