What is the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE)?

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a nationally recognised personal development programme for young people aged 14–24. It helps participants develop skills, confidence, resilience, and teamwork through a series of structured challenges across four sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and Expedition (with an additional Residential section at Gold level).

The Award is divided into three levels – Bronze, Silver, and Gold – each increasing in duration, challenge, and independence. Completing a DofE Award demonstrates commitment, achievement, and personal growth, valued by schools, colleges, employers, and universities.
